Samsung Galaxy SIII To Feature 16 Mega-Pixel Camera ?

We brought you news of a Samsung Galaxy SIII leak last week and now Samsung have announced a new CMOS image sensor. The new sensor has an amazing 16 mega-pixel  resolution which eclipses the previous mobile record of 12 mega-pixels.

The Samsung S5K2P1 sensor can record amazing videos as well as stationary snaps. Infact, you can record video at 60fps at 8.3 mega-pixels or at 30fps in the full 16 mega-pixel resolution.

As well as having the highest resolution of any smartphone sensor the S5K2P1 also adopts Samsung's 1.34um Backside Illumination Pixel Technology. This will give the camera excellent sensitivity, low-noise performance and brighter more vivid pictures in low-light conditions.

Rumours online suggest that this new camera technology will debut on the Samsung Galaxy SIII, which would make sense as the Galaxy S range has always been the highest in Samsung's smartphone portfolio.

Our previous rumours about the Galaxy SIII suggest that it will have a 2 GHz processor, 1.5 GB of RAM and a 4.25 inch Super AMOLED III screen. Originally, we heard it would have a 10 mega-pixel camera but this new information suggests it'll have an even more impressive 16 mega-pixel camera.

We'll keep you posted on any further news we hear about the Galaxy SIII or the new camera technology.
