The Blackberry Playbook has already launched in the US and should be announced shortly in the UK. In the meantime RIM has been busy announcing new applications for its tablet.

The first new application is a video calling application called Blackberry Playbook Video Chat. The application provides an easy way for friends and family to place video calls on their Blackberry Playbook.

With Playbook Video Chat you can make one click video and voice calls over WiFi, view incoming call notifications, access a friends list and take advantage of powerful in-call functions. You can easily preview your "video" before making a call, can change between the front and rear camera and mute/unmute audio.

The second new application to be confirmed is Facebook for Blackberry Playbook. The new application has been designed to take full advantage of the extra power and screen size of the Blackberry Playbook.  

Features of the Facebook application  include the ability to add and view friends, upload and video phots and videos, use Facebook chat and view and interact with the News Feed.

The final  new app is the Blackberry Bridge App which enables you to share your 3G connection on your Blackberry Smartphone with your Blackberry Playbook. The app is particulary important because only a WiFi version of the Playbook has been launched.
