Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S4 Zoom earlier this month and it's certainly got people talking. Nokia's Pureview 808 brought back the camera phone, but Samsung's smartphone has upped the ante because it has a "best-in-class" 16 mega-pixel camera with a 10x optical zoom !
Budding photographers can now carry round a single device to take snaps and make calls - as well as being able to browse the web on either 3G or 4G (model dependant). It's looking like a device with a huge amount of potential with virtually no direct rivals.
However, there are some important questions that need answering : what specification does the Galaxy S4 Zoom have, how much will it cost and when will it launch ?
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom has a similar specification to the Galaxy S4 Mini - essentially making it a mid-range Android smartphone. The star of the show is undoubtedly the 16 mega-pixel camera which has a 10x optical zoom, Xenon Flash and optical image-stabilisation - when it comes to smartphones nothing comes close.
You also get a 4.3 inch display (960*540 pixels) , while it's driven by a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor backed up by 1.5GB of RAM. You only get 8GB of on-board memory for storing your snaps and videos, but not to worry because the Galaxy S4 Zoom supports microSD cards.
When Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S4 Zoom they didn't officially confirm the price of the smartphone. However, it's now appeared on pre-order on the online retailer Handtec priced at £467.99, while The Clove have it listed at £442.
We're intrigued to see if the operators embrace the Galaxy S4 Zoom , because it's size and weight could hinder it's chances of becoming a mainstream success. However, we're hopeful that at least one of the UK major operators will offer Samsung's smartphone.
Samsung are yet to officially confirm when the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom will go on sale. However, the Clove have listed the shipping date as July 8th and they are normally pretty reliable. As soon as we get offiical confirmation we'll let you know.
