Sony Ericsson Xperia Active Gets A Dunking

Well as a lot of us may know its Wimbledon time again and Sony Ericsson has not overlooked this fact with regard to the Sony Ericsson Xperia Active. The latest we have found from SE is a flashy promotional video and a nice video with tennis babe Maria Sharapova now owning a Xperia Active. The phone Maria owned before, if we remember correctly, was the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 which also had an accompanying video and, of course, Maria is an ambassador for SE.

We must say Maria seems to intro the Xperia Active in such a confident manner and explains what she likes about the Xperia Active and also demonstrates it's water resistant capabilities by dunking it in water.

The Sony Ericsson Active is a smartphone for those with an active lifestyle.  A number of features are present which can help you while you workout, run or even walk.

The first fitness feature is the on-board GPS , Barometer and Compass which can be used to plan out and monitor the routes you take while running. The Active can also measure both heart-rate and pulse on-screen using ANT+ Wireless networking technology. The iMapMyFitness application can be used to monitor your everyday performance, set goals and the information can also be shared on Facebook to show your friends/relatives or just to show off.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Active is also dust proof, scratch resistant and water resistant. The mobile can be immersed under 1 metre of water for up to 30 minutes without breaking. In the box you also get a wrist-strap , arm case for when working out and detachable ear hooks for the portable hands-free active headset.

The specification of the Xperia Active isn't too shabby at all with a 3 inch touch-screen featuring Mobile Bravia technology , a 5 mega-pixel camera and support for both 3G and WiFi. A 2GB microSD card will come with the smartphone which should provide ample storage for your workout information. The Active also runs on Android 2.3, the latest version of Google's operating system.
