Android 4.3 update hitting Xperia Z, ZR, ZL & Tablet Z tomorrow?

Android 4.3 Sony Xperia Z Release Leaked

Joining the Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra which got Android 4.3 earlier this week.

Sony will rollout Android Jelly Bean (4.3) to owners of the Sony Xperia Z, Xperia ZR, Xperia ZL and Xperia Tablet Z in the next couple of days, possibly even as early as tomorrow.

We already knew the release of Android 4.3 was imminent after the update was given the green light by the wireless device certification forum the PTCRB. But we weren't sure exactly when it would roll-out until Sony accidentally revealed the information on the Xperia Z's support page.

The global support page for Sony's waterproof smartphone, which has since been amended, stated that Android 4.3 (build 10.4.B.0.569) was first released on 2013-12-19 - whoops seems like someone jumped the gun. So there we have it the Xperia Z will get Jelly Bean tomorrow.

Given that the other smartphones in the Xperia Z range have also been certified for release, it seems pretty safe to assume they'll follow suit and be released tomorrow. Or at the very least, they should get the update in the next couple of days.

As always those with devices locked to a specific operator will have to wait that bit longer to get the update. And as soon as we get further details on the rollout of Android 4.3 to Sony's Xperia Z range on specific UK operators we'll let you know.

Next up is Android KitKat

After the rollout of Android 4.3 is complete 5 of Sony's Xperia Z range will get the bump up to Android KitKat (4.4) early next year. Namely, they are the Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z, Xperia ZL and the Xperia Tablet Z.

Those are the only Xperia devices confirmed to be getting an update to Android KitKat so far, but it's possible other Xperia devices will be added to the confirm list at a later date.
