N95 High Pitch Noise Fix.

Well after looking through forum and forum. I realize that the high pitch noise is very common among n95 users and many have send back a few times and still have to same high pitch noise unfix. so instead of sending mine I decited to find out what the problem is myself and found out that it was the screen that is making noise when ever the light turn on (try putting your ear to the back on the screen when you open it, that is where the high pitch come from). So here is what i've done to get rid of the noise.
DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!
step one: buy a T5 screw driver.

step two: uncrew 4 screws from the back of the screen.

step three: remove the face plate (one side at a time).

step four: cut out a square of whatever paper you think will reduce the noise. I use a thin paper foam from inside the box when I bought my labtop.

step five: place it in back of the screen (make sure that the paper fit well and not too thick or too thin).

step six: close the screen ontop and screw everything back.

I reduce the noise almost 100% unless you move your ear down in the middle of the screen then you might hear a little noise. I'm not sure if this is healthy for the screen but the noise is driving me crazy so im taking chances.

Re: N95 High Pitch Noise Fix.

Excellent stuff. I do have a whine problem but it's quite faint so I'll leave it for now. I'm sure it will help a lot of people though.

Thanks for posting! Rep you

Re: N95 High Pitch Noise Fix.

I just purchased the N95 in USA. This is the "Made in Finland" version and right away noticed the high pitch noise including some ver very faint beeping like sound as well. Very annoying. BTW I am 39 year old but have no problem hearing this sound. Any way I tried your fix, fortunately had a T5.5 screwdriver which worked fine. I could not find a very thin "foam paper" but instead used the back of the CD cover. (this is the soft white material with dots on it) and is quite thin but sturdy. Any ways I just cut it to size and placed it on the back of the screen and it seems to have made very little difference in noise may be 10% or 20% less.

Also BTW when I did video recording it also had quite a bit of background noise are they both related ?

I am now inclined to send the unit back for warranty repair. Any one else had experience warranty service of n95 in USA? i.e how long do they take. I don't believe there is a Nokia center in my city.

Re: N95 High Pitch Noise Fix.

I just received my n95 Krusell leather dynamic cover (with transparent front) after putting the cover on, the noise is imperceptible i.e. I can not hear it any more. I guess the cover acts as a buffer between the ear and the phone, and prevents the noise from coming through. This can be a cheap work around. Although Krusell is not the best cover, This is the only cover I could find which lets you see the screen when the call come in, without removing the phone from the holder etc.

Re: N95 High Pitch Noise Fix.

Its amazing that a top-of-the-line Nokia phone would require the users to doctor it themselves.

Re: N95 High Pitch Noise Fix.

Does this thread refer to the hissing noise when making a call?
