respect for writing the idiot proof to unlocking this heap of junk!
but the tech guys at Virgin have some sneaky way of relocking it after factory reset!
If anyone gets this sorted please post!
NOBODY SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS!

I doubt if Virgin have a 'sneaky way' of relocking the phone. They have no way of knowing that you have unlocked it.
The method above reminds me of a temporary unlock that used to be around for some NEC phones.
Anyhow, once you have spent a few pounds Virgin will unlock your phone for free. Have you tried asking them?

Out of interest, if once you unlock the phone which was originally on Virgin, will they be able to lock it again even if you don't put in a virgin sim card?
As of yet mine is still unlocked and taking any sim card i put in it.

Hi there, just bought an lg u380 today, wondering if there's any possibility of unlocking it to other networks?
I'm in ireland and this phone is on the irish 3 network, will this affect the code in any way ?
I have tried the 2945#*# a number of times so it definitely isn't working for me
I'd appreciate any feedback at all, thank you !

Hi peeps new to this forum but looks interesting.
With regards to unlocking the KG800 using the 2945... method I have had no success.
Have read all the posts about this and tried several times but nothing works.
The phone was found but the sim had been removed (not by me). It is locked to the "fruit" network (not sure if we are allowed to say the colour or name the network in full). Have put similar sim in so phone works.
I currently use another network and would like to keep/use my original sim.
regards to all

Have you tried any other networks in your phone? Have you tried another 02 sim card in your mobile?
Feel free to contact me 07895172138
Have tried as specific instructions on virgin mobile but phone still locked. I do however switch the phone off to insert the new (O2) card, then switch it on again. Is this wrong?

My chocolate is locked to Orange and this does not work. It does the reset and powers off (does not restart until powered on). Have tried several times with SIMS from o2, BT, Voda, and 3. When powered on with any SIM it says 'Insert correct SIM card' with 2 options at the bottom for 'SOS' and 'unlock'. If you choose unlock it goes to 'SIMS locks' then 'Deactivate' then 'Enter NCK'. This is exactly how it comes up on the phone. I have tried various alternative methods of the above, none of which seem to work.

I'm pretty sure that there is no fix for us out there that this unlocking doesnt work for. It appears the posters that post have it working, therefore they don't need any other ways! And for us that it doesnt work, back to the clip!

2945#*# will only reset to factory settings post branding. Those peeps that have found it works were probably on Virgin, and afterwards have used a T-Mobile SIM. These networks in many cases can be used without any resetting on the same phone as T-Mobile provide the network service for all Virgin customers!
If any body has had it work for other networks, i apologise and stand corrected.

OK this has gone on for quite some time and needs to be clarified once and for all. First off, the "100%" claim in the title needs to be altered as the "2945" solution does not work with every Choc. I have bought and sold hundreds of these and for some I have found that the clip works, but strangely not the 2945 code, and on other I have found that the code works but not the clip.
The only ones I have ever unlocked with the code have been on the Orange network so that's the Virgin/T-Mobile theory out of the window. It doesn't take a genius to work out then that there are at least two different locking methods for this phone, one of which requires the clip and the other which requires the code to unlock them. Seems to be the earlier ones that unlock with the code.
However I have come across a few that have asked for the 4-digit security code even with the correct original (Orange) sim card enclosed, no idea why this should be but "0000" didn't work with these. So what did I do? Returned them from where I got them for replacement of course!

I don't suppose that it's as easy as this to unlock a D900?
