The Google Pixel 7 is one of the cheapest high-end phones you can buy, yet it has features you won’t find from other brands, like a bespoke Tensor G2 chipset that has more AI smarts than most of the competition.
That chipset powers incredible photography capabilities, with the Pixel 7’s 50MP main camera and 12MP ultra-wide one capable of capturing stunning shots, whatever the lighting conditions.
Clever camera features help too, like Super Res Zoom which offers near-optical quality 2x zoom, and digital zoom of up to 8x. Then there’s Cinematic Blur, which adds a shallow depth of field effect to videos, for professional looking footage, Photo Unblur which sharpens out of focus images, and Magic Eraser, which can remove unwanted parts of a scene, such as people in the background.
The Google Pixel 7 also has a 6.3-inch 1080 x 2400 OLED screen with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate, and the ability to get up to 25% brighter than the Pixel 6, so it’s clear and viewable even in bright sunlight.
The phone sports a refined version of the Pixel 6’s design too, complete with the now iconic camera visor running across the back, but this time it’s made from aluminium, for a more high-end appearance.
The Pixel 7 has an IP68 rating too, so it’s water and dust resistant, and it’s more secure than most smartphones, thanks to a dedicated Titan M2 security chip to keep your data safe.
The battery impresses too, as Google claims the 4,355mAh juice pack can last for over 24 hours as standard, or for up to three days in Extreme Battery Saver mode.
There’s 8GB of RAM too, plus plenty of storage, a fingerprint scanner, facial recognition, 5G, and the phone will keep getting better thanks to software updates – which will come faster here than on Android phones not made by Google.
Google has also revealed that a built-in VPN will be enabled soon, which is something no other mainstream phone offers – other than the Pixel 7 Pro – and will ensure your online activity is kept secure and private.
