US : A new 3G enabled device has been released to complement an existing range of UTM ( Unified Threat Management ) network security products.
The 3G Extend USB ( pictured above ) from WatchGuard Technologies is aimed at providing businesses with fast WAN connectivity where fixed broadband is not appropriate because it’s not available or it’s too expensive. Examples where 3G Extend USB can be used is remote sites, trains, ATMs and vehicles.
The 3G Extend USB is a real L2TP 3G wireless bridge which transfers 3G internet connectivity to all WatchGuard UTM network security devices. It is able to support the majority of wireless modems from over 2000 Internet Service Providers globally. The 3G Extend USB provides 3G connectivity ( both failover and primary ) and therefore businesses gain a very secure and faster WAN failover alternative than POTS.
The modular design of the WatchGuard 3G Extend USB also gives businesses greater flexibility and scalability in deployment schemes. For example, the device can be easily moved or transferred among other WatchGuard appliances, thus giving businesses a superior total cost of ownership model and investment protection for future upgrade paths.

The WatchGuard 3G Extend is available worldwide from authorized resellers. Pricing for North America is $220; Europe and Asia-Pacific pricing is $242.
