US : The iMAT antenna (Isolated Mode Antenna Technology ) has now been made available for 3G LTE. The Skycross iMAT is well known in the industry and improves data rates, reliability and boosts capacity of 3G networks and now 3G LTE networks. Above shows two variations of the new iMAT antenna.
3G LTE relies on MIMO ( multiple input, multiple output ) and mobile handsets and devices with multiple resonators can suffer from interference issues. This particularly applies to netbooks, mobile phones and dongles.
The iMAT antenna is a single antenna which behaves like a number of optimized antennas which have advantages over standard antennas such as : sleeker designs, lower cost, and eases integration. This coupled with high performance means that a higher rate of network throughput is achieved.
Joe Gifford, VP at SkyCross said SkyCross is leveraging is WiMAX leadership position and the common spectrum features of LTE to now deliver end-to-end antenna solutions for any 4G client device. iMAT provides a seamless and flexible path to LTE with a high degree of spectral efficiency for the service provider.” “The primary device challenge for 4G, whether it’s WiMAX or LTE, is properly implementing MIMO,” said Joe Gifford, Vice President at SkyCross. “Not coincidentally, this is precisely what iMAT solves
The network performance benefits of SkyCross antennas have already been proven at 2.5-2.7 GHz, which will be the most popular LTE frequency band outside of the United States. A test conducted in Hillsborough, Oregon, showed that iMAT antennas offer up to 2.5 times faster data rates, particularly in fringe areas, when compared to a conventional two-antenna approach. Other tests showed that iMAT antennas yielded the highest throughput on average. SkyCross iMAT antenna solutions offer performance benefits, significant cost savings, and overall customer satisfaction.
