SavaJe Technologies Target's 3G Handset Market in China
26th September , 2006

US : SavaJe Technologies is to expand into China with a strategic alliance with Longcheer Technology Ltd, the establishment of a research and development facility in partnership with Hangzhou Dianzi University School of Computer Science and Software Engineering, and the opening of a regional support center in Shanghai.

Longcheer Technology Ltd, is one of the top four independent mobile handset designers in China.

This expansion gives SavaJe a significant sales, research and development, and professional services presence to support local customers and partners throughout China. In addition to Longcheer, SavaJe is already working with a number of other Chinese mobile players for 2.5G and 3G handsets for local and export markets, including handset ODMs and OEMs as well as larger communications vendors.

Founded by a team of Java software engineers from Bell Labs(R) and backed by leading investors, including the strategic investment arms of Vodafone, T- Mobile and Orange, SavaJe is unleashing the potential of advanced Java, enabling it to become the leading applications platform for global deployment of services to mobile devices. The company's SavaJe Mobile Platform(TM) enables operators and handset manufacturers to rapidly brand and customize mobile handsets that deliver high performance and advanced features. This enables a truly differentiated user experience, while shortening product time- to-market with the cross-platform benefits
of the Java environment.

SavaJe's China operations will be run by its General Manager, John Fursdon, who is responsible for managing the Shanghai office, overseeing the joint research and development center, and developing relationships with all players in the Chinese mobile ecosystem -- handset ODMs and OEMs, application developers and wireless operators. Fursdon has extensive mobile sales, marketing and management experience in Asia, including previous responsibility for Asia sales and licensing at PalmSource and PACE Soft Silicon, a mobile media partner of Microsoft and Intel.

"Our goal was an immediate and comprehensive business and R&D presence in China to firmly embed ourselves in the country's mobile ecosystem and establish our SavaJe Mobile Platform as the preferred choice for mobile handsets and applications in China," said Lamar Potts, senior vice president of worldwide business development and sales for SavaJe. "With China's significant 2.5G business and looming 3G explosion, combined with the robust export market for its local ODMs and OEMs, now was the perfect time to deliver our SavaJe Mobile Platform in China as the basis for the next generation of user experience-focused handsets."

SavaJe's expansion into China is a multi-faceted strategy designed to give the company a leadership role in the country's 2.5G and 3G handsets
for domestic and export markets, including:

* Strategic Handset Alliance - Longcheer Technology Ltd, one of the top
four independent mobile handset designers in China, is collaborating
with SavaJe in the development and deployment of two all-in-one,
multimedia devices based on the company's SavaJe Mobile Platform - the
101 and S201 - designed for both domestic and export markets.

* TD-SCDMA R&D Center - the joint R&D center with Hangzhou Dianzi
University will create various enhancements to the SavaJe Mobile
Platform, including Time Division Synchronous Code Division
Multiple Access (TD-SCDMA) - China's standards for 3G communications -
support, user interface localization, embedded software and Chinese-
specific mobile Java applications.

* Shanghai Office - a new office in Shanghai that will be focused on
sales, business development, professional services and regional customer
support.

SavaJe is headquartered in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, but also operates
design, research and development and sales facilities in Palo Alto, California; Cambridge, U.K.; Korea; India, through a partnership with HCL
Technologies; and the new Chinese facilities in Shanghai and Hangzhou.
