Europe Ireland : Research and Markets has announced the addition of Introduction to Microdisplays to their offering.

Introduction to Microdisplays covers the structure and performance of microdisplays and their associated optical imaging systems. Including an overview of current applications which will be provided alongside a guide to future developments in the field.

Microdisplays are tiny, high-resolution electronic displays that are designed for use in a magnified optical system. Although the displays themselves are typically sized less than 2-inches, many can provide a magnified viewing area similar to that of a full size computer screen. The first phase of products incorporating microdisplays is now on the market and includes sunglasses-size, lightweight virtual reality goggles, colour projectors and camcorders.

Application areas currently under development include instrumentation and test equipment, computing, medical imaging, and of course, telecommunications. Microdisplays are expected to play a vital role in new 3G (and beyond) portable communications devices, digital camera technology, wireless internet applications, portable DVD viewers and wearable PCs. Presently information on microdisplays is scattered throughout optical, display, electronic engineering, materials science and physics publications. The authors have excellent combined experience across these broad fields and aim to produce a thorough and comprehensive reference on this emerging topic.
