Fully Integrated 3G HSDPA Router
11th September , 2006

Europe UK : Sarian Systems announced the launch of the world’s first enterprise router to be compatible with High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) and most other mobile networks. The Sarian HR4110 HSDPA router is designed to support mission-critical communications that are vital to the day-to-day running of a business and offers a cost-effective migration path from today’s GPRS, EDGE and UMTS/3G networks to the emerging high speed wireless technology. The router is ideal for organisations reliant on real-time telemetry applications to gather data from remote sites. It also provides a highly affordable and flexible back up solution for organisations with fixed broadband and leased line connections.

Over 100 mobile operators have already announced the rollout of HSDPA, which acts as an extension to UTMS/3G networks, and offers significantly higher download speeds, of up to 1.8Mbits/sec, and lower latency than previously available. By enabling enterprises to utilise these broadband-like speeds, the Sarian HR4110 router makes it possible to run bandwidth-hungry applications and services – such as voice and video over IP – over wireless connections. With it’s additional support for switching legacy Serial, X.25 and SNA protocols over wireless IP the HR4110 offers a cost-effective method of supporting machine-to-machine data transmission as well as fixed line back up.

The HR4110 also contains several security and redundancy features to maximise uptime of mission-critical communications. In areas without HSPDA coverage, the HR4110 will automatically search for 3G or other mobile networks. Dual SIM card slots also enable automatic failover to a back up network in the event that the primary connection is broken. Unlike other mobile routers, which connect to networks via data cards designed for short-term use with laptops and other end-user devices, the radio technology in the Sarian router is deeply embedded and optimised for 24 x 7 x 365 use.

In addition, Sarian’s HSPDA router has the unique facility of being able to simultaneously transmit data while monitoring / controlling router performance in real-time. This ensures any network and infrastructure errors can be identified and rectified without interrupting business-critical data transfer.

The HR4110 is built on Sarian's own operating system, SAR/OS, for which there are no known exploits. To provide organisations with flexibility, a development kit is available which allows users to customise SAR/OS to support bespoke business applications.

“The speed and reliability of HSDPA make it ideal for mobile business applications such as live video surveillance, VoIP and telemetry, or even as a back-up for the company broadband,” said Andy Hood, managing director, Sarian Systems. “The HR4110 is designed to help businesses harness these features and keep key business applications running smoothly in environments where network failures or coverage issues are unacceptable.”

The HR4110 is available worldwide now, from Sarian partners or direct from Sarian.
