3G Multimedia Application Console

US : Novatel Wireless announced it has begun commercial shipments of its Ovation MCU1200(TM), the first model in the Ovation(TM) Family of 3G Multimedia Application Consoles to offer voice and 3G data capabilities.

Ovation is a portfolio of stand-alone desktop consoles that unifies wireless wide area networking (WWAN), wireless local area networking (WLAN) and circuit switched cellular voice. The Ovation MCU1200 provides small office/home office (SOHO), enterprise and residential markets in Europe and Asia with cost-effective access to voice and broadband data services.

The Conversa software suite in the Ovation MCU1200 is designed to support unique features that provide a rich end-user experience and optimize performance of the console through the following:

-- Broadband WWAN Internet access -- Conversa provides user-friendly and secure wireless broadband access to the Internet, email, corporate networks and virtual private networks

-- Advanced device networking -- without replacing existing equipment, Conversa allows SOHO, enterprise and residential users to connect multiple devices, including landline telephones, desktop PCs or laptops to wireless broadband Internet access, fax machines and other WLAN-enabled peripheral devices from every office or room

-- Analog voice calling -- Conversa will enable voice calling from landline or cordless telephones using voice over GSM circuit switch, providing an alternative to landline phone service

-- Embedded Print Server Support -- through an embedded software application, Conversa allows SOHO, enterprise and residential users to manager multiple printers

-- Location flexibility -- leveraging Conversa, the Ovation MCU1200 provides wireless carriers with added flexibility for location based billing and comprehensive device management features

-- Advanced security firewalls -- Conversa enables enterprises to safely share files and securely access email, the Internet and corporate information
