: Actix presented the first public demonstration of its optimization
solution for HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) networks at last
week’s HSDPA Conference London. Actix is the first to market with
a solution that addresses the needs of the growing number of operators
that are already trialing HSDPA networks.
Inset is Dave Wilkinson, CEO, Actix quoted below. Actix’s HSDPA solution has already been trialed by some of the world’s leading operators. It is ideally suited to delivering a smooth rollout through its support of multi-vendor environments. Available from next month, Actix anticipates growing demand from operators across Europe, Asia Pacific, and the US as they strive to increase productivity, lower development costs and improve quality of service levels for their 2.5 and 3G customers. The solution will appeal to early adopters who are looking to be more competitive in their respective regions. HSDPA is a packet-based data service feature of the WCDMA standard which provides a downlink with data transmission up to 8-10 Mbps (and 20 Mbps for MIMO systems) over a 5MHz bandwidth in WCDMA downlink. Dave Wilkinson, CEO, Actix said, “Historically, Actix has always been at the forefront of developing performance solutions for new technology networks that cost effectively address the challenges that operators are facing globally. With the advent of HSDPA - and the opportunities it presents to operators who upgrade their current UMTS networks – Actix again leads the way in delivering a solution for operators who have already begun HSDPA tests, and their network engineers responsible for trouble-shooting during the early stages of the rollout.” Founded in 1991 and headquartered in London, UK, Actix is the international market-leader in wireless performance engineering software. Actix solutions address two of the biggest issues facing wireless operators today: the need to squeeze more out of their existing network investments and the race to generate significant new revenue from wireless data services. Applications include network performance troubleshooting, verification of customer-perceived service quality; competitive analysis and accelerated new-technology rollout. Today nine out of ten 3G operators worldwide use Actix software. In March 2005, the company secured a significant investment from Summit Partners, a leading private equity and venture capital firm. |
