: QUALCOMM Incorporated announced the opening of a research and development
(R&D) center in Hyderabad, India. QUALCOMM's Hyderabad R&D
center will support QUALCOMM's CDMA chipset development activities
and ongoing efforts to advance CDMA wireless technology in India and
across the region.
The
center is part of the Company's efforts to enhance its worldwide engineering
workforce to help meet the increasing demand for third-generation
(3G) wireless devices.
As
part of QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies (QCT), work at the Hyderabad site
includes software, DSP firmware and hardware development, design,
testing and technical customer support. The engineering team will
provide operator support and customization of CDMA modem software
and chipsets for specific handset manufacturers and operators.
"This
research and development facility will complement and further strengthen
QUALCOMM's established global engineering expertise, helping us to
even better meet the needs of the wireless industry," said Dr.
Sanjay K. Jha, president of QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies. "Work
at the facility will positively impact our expanding product roadmap
as well as create opportunities for growth and innovation in this
region."
