: Axesstel, Inc., a designer, manufacturer and marketer of high-quality,
CDMA-based fixed wireless voice and data products for the worldwide
telecommunications market, announced today that it will unveil and
demonstrate its next generation AXW-D800 and the AXW-D1900 Fixed-Wireless
Modems, on Airvana Inc.'s 1xEV-DO (1x Evolution Data Optimized) system
at the CDMA Americas Congress in Miami, Florida, which begins on September
28, 2004.
Using Qualcomm's
1xEV-DO technology, the AXW-D800 and AXW-D1900 modems are designed
to provide users with a high-speed data connection in the 800 and
1900 MHz bands at peak data rates of up to 2.4 Mbps. A built-in Ethernet
adapter (RJ-45) and a USB port provide convenient connection to other
network devices such as a Wi-Fi access point and a multi-port router
for multi-users.
"We believe
that Axesstel's new line of EV-DO modems allows extraordinary flexibility
and ease-of-use in connecting individual PCs and local area networks
to the Internet," said Lixin Cheng, President of the Axesstel
Wireless group. "Our modems require no drivers and set up is
as simple as connecting your Ethernet cable to the device. In essence,
it is a wireless 'cable' modem that is ideal for home, campus environments
and SOHO applications. Axesstel's EV-DO modems are designed to enable
wireless carriers to compete directly with DSL and cable operators
using their existing EV-DO networks."
Axesstel hopes
that new 1xEV-DO modems will have a significant impact in markets
where DSL and cable services are unavailable, unreliable or simply
impractical, such as rural areas or developing countries. Such modems
are capable of providing data rates comparable with the most sophisticated
cable modems, while the fixed nature of the devices enables operators
to target the most profitable segments of the market by deploying
1xEV-DO with limited initial coverage and then expanding coverage
as demand grows. This level of control is in direct contrast to mobile
1xEV-DO applications where total network coverage is expected from
day one.
"This
is a very exciting product for our Company," said Mike Kwon,
Chairman of Axesstel. "We have long believed that EV-DO is an
extremely effective and economical means to provide access to broadband
services. With the availability of our EV-DO modems, wireless broadband
applications finally benefit from commercial demand that is spreading
rapidly in the marketplace."
