: Alice Systems has worked with Orange UK to develop the software
for the Orange 3G Mobile Office Card . The 3G Mobile Office Card will
make it easy for Orange UK subscribers to access data services such
as the Internet, company intranets and e-mail across the 3G and GPRS
mobile networks provided by Orange. The easy to use software interface
will provide customers with one click access to wireless working.
The Mobile Office
Card software is based on the Alice Systems’ Client Manager
solution. The datacard can be installed into laptop PCs to effectively
enable wireless working. The Mobile Office Card solution enables the
user to establish a data connection to the Internet, company intranet,
and e-mail the simplest possible way, i.e. with one single click.
The solution can automatically select the highest speed data transmission
service available in the area providing customers with an easy way
to mobile work without having to worry about finding the fastest network.
The software also allows sending and receiving of text messages (SMS),
maintaining a telephone address book, and viewing data traffic statistics.
“The 3G
Mobile Office Card from Orange provides customers with a simple, efficient
solution for mobile working. The ‘one-click’ functionality
provides customers with access to the fastest network available in
their area, meaning they can get on with work without having to worry
about the data network” said Clive Richardson, head of product
development, Business Solutions. Orange.
“As
the solution provider and implementation partner of the Orange Mobile
Office project we see an increasing market need for client manager
solutions like the Mobile Office Card. Until now, the challenge for
the user has been to succeed in actually connecting to the Internet
or company intranet. With the growing number of devices, bearers,
and connection methods the user experience becomes increasingly complex.
For the mobile operator this complex environment has historically
been a constraint preventing users from connecting to their data services,”
says Anders Gymnander, CEO, Alice Systems AB.
