9th September, 2004

Europe : T-Mobile Czech Republic a.s. (T-Mobile CR) has commissioned the mobile communication group at Siemens to equip the network of the fastest growing mobile phone operator in the Czech Republic with EDGE technology (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution). From the end of 2004, the high-speed infrastructure will be available to the operator's customers in several major cities and coverage will be extended gradually. This is Siemens' fourth EDGE contract in Eastern Europe and its thirteenth in the world.

"We are proud of the fact that we will be able to offer EDGE to our subscribers," explained Roland Mahler, Managing Director of T-Mobile Czech Republic a.s. "This will enable us to provide our customers with a new dimension in using data and multimedia services."

"We've come to know and value T-Mobile CR as an extremely agile and innovative company," says Christoph Caselitz, President of the Networks Division at Siemens mobile. "We're glad that we'll be able to help this important player on the Czech market to win new market shares."

The telecommunications industry is considered one of the fastest growing industries in the Czech Republic. How foreign investors appreciate this market can be seen from the fact, that they have entered all areas of the industry from terrestrial and mobile telephony, to data services and even satellite transmissions.
