Europe
: Almost 2.8 millions Italians changed their mobile operator since
the introduction of the Number Portability.
Inset
is Vincenzo Novari, CEO of 3 in Italy who is quoted below.
For the first
time, 3 is the number one for the net number of acquired clients which
have chosen to keep their phone number: particularly, the Mobile Video
Company of the Hutchison Whampoa Group, Italian leader in the Umts
market, registers a net positive balance between of 21,726 units between
the acquired clients and lost ones, even if it started the service
after 11 months since the introduction of the MNP. Wind becomes second,
while TIM and Vodafone lose a total amount of almost 450,000 clients.
In total, almost
2,800 millions have chosen to change their mobile operator, keeping
their number, since the introduction of the Mobile Number Portability
in our Country.
3 have once again
requested the Authority of Communication for an urgent application
for an interoperator price level of activations lower than the current
€10.02 , remaining the need of a final zeroing of it. Till today,
it has cost 3 almost €2.5 million to allow users to carry over
their own numbers. "This is a significant number," states
Vincenzo Novari, the CEO of 3, "which is not only taken from
new operators but also from the market and the users who have less
choice of the most convenient solutions and better services".
