| 3G International Video Calls |
|
18th September 2003 |
|
FOMA already offers international dialing with its service. With the new service, they will also be able to make face-to-face contact via videophone and dial directly into private LANs via data transmissions (72 yen per 10 seconds*). No application for the service is necessary. FOMA subscribers simply dial 009130-010-44, followed by the Hutchison 3G UK mobile phone number. DoCoMo has been supporting Hutchison 3G UK to provide the first W-CDMA based 3G services in the United Kingdom, launched on March 2003. DoCoMo expects to expand the international videophone/data service to other countries in the near future. In the line with official requirements, DoCoMo notified the Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Posts and Telecommunications of the new service. *Transmission
charges calculated per 10 seconds regardless of time when call placed
or user's billing plan. Free monthly communication allowance and special
discounts do not apply to this service. |
