Streamed Wireless Video Services

3rd September 2003

US : With a customer base of 3.5 million, the Jamba! mobile portal is more popular than VodafoneLive! in Germany and thanks to Oplayo's video streaming technology, Jamba! customers can now receive streamed video content straight to their mobile phones.

Together with Oplayo, Jamba! has developed a mobile video gallery featuring latest chart music and fun-sport clips for 1,49 Euro per playlist* (see notes to editors), with the intension of extending this offering to news, weather and erotic video clips imminently.

In order to obtain access to the streamed mobile video content, Jamba users [with 2.5G/GPRS Symbian phones] need to install an Oplayer on their mobile phone. To do this, German mobile users can send a normal SMS to 81313 with the text VIDEO. A WAP push message is then sent in response to install the player. (More instructions can be found on www.oplayo.de). Video-streams are accessed via wap.jamba.de.

Nicolas Rohde, content manager, Jamba!, commented: " Oplayo's streaming video technology will allow Jamba! to launch mobile video services to the masses at great speed and with minimal cost."

"With the launch of the first ever commercial streamed mobile video service in Germany, Jamba! is once again highlighting its commitment to becoming Europe's leading mobile portal."

Harald Müller, director, strategic accounts, Oplayo, commented: "This truly is a service for mass market mobile users. Mobile video services based on Oplayo's technology are already available in the UK, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland, and it's great to be able to have a foot in the German market now as well."

"By the end of 2003 there will be over 100 million Oplayo compatible phones in the European market, which represents a great opportunity for mobile portals, operators and content providers like Jamba! Jamba! are very wise to get in their early."
