Panasonic Embeds Games Engine Into Wireless Handsets
13th September 2002

IN-FUSIO has announced that Panasonic's first ExEn-enabled colour handset, the GD67, has been launched across Europe. Many of the handsets, targeted at the mid-range market, will carry version 2.0 of the ExEn games engine, comprising colour and 3D compatibility, high-speed downloads and a downloadable and renewable games catalogue.

Developed by IN-FUSIO, ExEn (Execution Engine) is the first Java-based games engine entirely dedicated to mobile devices. The technology allows users to download games, new levels or characters over the air to play on their cellular phone. The games are then run locally without the need for a continuous connection. The ExEn technology which will be fully J2ME MIDP 2.0 game API compliant, has been designed for games containing animated graphics, sound, 3D and colour.

So far, six major operators have adopted IN-FUSIO's wireless games service (D2 Vodafone, Omnitel Vodafone, SFR, Orange France, Telefonica Moviles and China Mobile).

Kenji Hatano, General Manager Product Planning of Matsushita Mobile Communications
European Liaison Office, explains that: "Panasonic recognises that mobile entertainment, and in particular games, will be an essential new revenue stream and is happy to support operators' implementation of games services like IN-FUSIO's. IN-FUSIO's colour games deliver the excitement of interactivity and quality graphics that has so far been missing from mobile games."

Gilles Raymond CEO and founder of IN-FUSIO: "The implementation of ExEn in Panasonic handsets is further evidence that IN-FUSIO's adds value to the mobile market and continues to gain broad consensus support among the major players. This is due to our operational and user-friendly technology."
