O2 Ireland Selects Actix GSM /GPRS /3G Optimisation and Roll-out Solution
30th October, 2006

Europe UK : Actix, the supplier of performance optimization solutions to 9/10 of the world’s wireless operators, announced today that they have completed the delivery of a full GSM/GPRS/UMTS optimisation and roll-out solution for O2 Ireland.

Based on the Actix Analyzer platform, the optimization solution has been configured to precisely follow specific processes for O2 Ireland, ensuring that the suite of tools being used is exactly aligned to O2’s best working practices. Such close alignment ensures maximum benefit and efficiency gains, increasingly important considerations in a very competitive marketplace. The flexible design of Actix Analyzer enables rapid, detailed configuration to match customer processes, allowing deliveries to be accomplished in very short timeframes.

“The successful implementation of this solution is the result of a large amount of very detailed collaborative teamwork between O2 Ireland and Actix. The process of discovery of our needs used by Actix is an excellent example of how a supplier should be willing to fully understand the needs of their customer and respond with an appropriate set of capabilities,” said Oliver Coughlan, O2 Ireland’s Chief Technical Officer.

The Actix delivery to O2 Ireland includes multiple performance optimization components, including capabilities for cluster optimization, radio site verification and integration and troubleshooting.

The selection of a fully-configured solution, which involved careful consideration of future needs, legacy systems and processes, and integration by Actix’s internal business process consulting team, is a model of how Actix works closely with customers to gather and analyze data before making any recommendations. Additionally, the entire project has an ROI of less than 12 months, ensuring that O2 Ireland can generate tangible, measurable benefits within a very short payback period.

“The Actix team is absolutely delighted that our approach to understanding and delivering on O2 Ireland’s needs has been so successful, and it’s extremely pleasing that we are now viewed as a genuinely trusted partner. We invested lots of time and energy in gaining a deep understanding of the needs of the customer, and only then did we recommend a cost-effective, configured solution, with a fully justifiable business case. It’s an engagement model that very few suppliers have the depth and breadth to apply, but we believe it produces the best results for all concerned,” said John Meldrum, Actix’s General Manager for EMEA.
