Six New 3G FOMA Handsets Feature Microsoft Windows Media Technology
17th October, 2006

US / Asia : PacketVideo Corporation and NTT DoCoMo have expanded their collaboration to provide the Japanese market with six new advanced multimedia player handset options powered by PacketVideo’s Universal pvPlayer software.

All six handsets – model numbers D903i, D903iTV, F903i, F903iX HIGH-SPEED, P903iX HIGH-SPEED, and SH903i -- operate on the NTT DoCoMo’s 3G FOMATM network. They are available in the Japanese market shortly. Through PacketVideo’s Universal pvPlayer™, they all support Microsoft® Windows Media® technology.

“Enabling quality, advanced music and video services for NTT DoCoMo’s valued subscribers is our privilege,” said Dr. Jim Brailean, PacketVideo CEO. “We appreciate the opportunity to extend our powerful mobile multimedia Universal pvPlayer to even more phones for consumers who want to take advantage of NTT DoCoMo’s premium FOMA network.”

“It is our goal at NTT DoCoMo to provide our customers with the highest quality multimedia experience technology will allow, and this collaboration with PacketVideo has helped us reach that achievement,” said Takeshi Natsuno, Senior Vice President, Managing Director, Multimedia Services of NTT DoCoMo. “The addition of six handsets with the advanced multimedia services opens up the enjoyment of music to a broader range of consumers.”

“The proven success of NTT DoCoMo’s initial collaboration with PacketVideo with the F902iS handset released last June raised the standard for quality music services in our Japanese market,” said Kazunori Takagi, President of PacketVideo Japan. “We are honored to continue the implementation of our Universal pvPlayer into multiple FOMA handsets for the benefit of FOMA subscribers.”

Because the PacketVideo’s Universal pvPlayer™ can handle a broad array of media and file formats, users can play 3GPP (MP4), i-motion (MMP4) and Windows Media contents. The D903i, D903iTV, F903i, F903iX HIGH-SPEED, and SH903i phones also support Microsoft’s Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) for phone-to-PC file transferring in addition to using Windows Media Audio and Windows Media Digital Rights Management 10 for portable devices. The P903iX HIGH-SPEED is the first FOMA® phone supporting Microsoft Windows Media Video for streaming services.
