World's Smallest 3G Handset

27th October , 2004

ASIA : ZTE Corporation, China’s largest supplier of telecommunication equipment, has launched the world’s smallest, lightest, and most compact 3G handset.

Announced at Expo Comm China exhibition in Beijing, ZTE’s F808 weighs only 104grams, and measures 88.5mm x 44.6mm x 22.5mm. Its features include voice, multimedia messaging and a built-in rotatable 300,000 pixel camera. It can also provide video phone capability, multimedia play and high speed data download.

“ZTE is proud of its position at the forefront of all mobile technologies and today’s announcement is further evidence that our expertise stretches from network infrastructure to handsets,” said ZTE Senior Vice President, Shi Lirong.

“We have sold more than 12 million handsets this year alone and we are confident that this success will continue as we develop such world leading phones as the F808.”

ZTE plan ongoing developments of the phone, which is being designed for Chinese and international markets. Today’s world breakthrough is the latest mobile technology success for ZTE, whose handset sales grew from 4.6 million last year to more than 12 million this year. ZTE also previously achieved the first detachable CDMA handset in the world and the first Chinese dual-band GSM handset in China.

ZTE’s mobile pedigree includes a capability to provide a total wireless solution, incorporating CDMA, GSM and PHS. In CDMA alone, ZTE has supplied more than 20 countries with over 12 million lines throughout the world.
