Partners to Deliver 3G Video Messaging Solution

US : Brooktrout Technology announced that its SnowShore Media Server has been deployed by TMN, Portugal’s largest mobile operator, as part of their new 3G Videomail service. Brooktrout partnered with Openwave Systems, Inc. to integrate its SnowShore Media Server with Openwave® Video Voicemail and Openwave Video Portal to allow TMN’s 3G subscribers to view and purchase video content as well as send, receive, store and manage voice and video messages.

TMN becomes one of the first operators worldwide to launch mobile video services, which are expected to drive service growth and improve customer satisfaction. Voice mail, video mail and video portal services are all delivered using the same consolidated, standards-based infrastructure, speeding the creation and deployment of new services for TMN’s UMTS network.

Siemens Communications, together with Openwave Systems Inc., has supplied the 3G/UMTS Video Mailbox System and a Video Termination Gateway as an end-to-end-solution for the largest mobile operator in Portugal. Siemens was instrumental in the integration and deployment of this solution, providing valuable expertise with terminals, network infrastructure, billing, provisioning and interoperability.

Brooktrout’s SnowShore Media Server provides flexible media processing resources that can support a broad range of applications, from basic messaging and multiparty conferencing to prepaid services and network announcements. Because it utilizes small-footprint, industry-standard server platforms and standards-based IP protocols, the SnowShore Media Server can leverage the ongoing evolution of network architectures and processor technology to deliver a flexible media processing solution for next-generation IP applications.

This innovative new 3G video messaging solution is built on Openwave’s video voice-mail platform, an open software platform for the development of next-generation messaging services. Designed to support the integration of third-party technologies and systems over standard-based interfaces, the solution offers operators clear, competitive advantages over competing communications technologies by delivering compelling voice/data services across a single, flexible, highly scaleable platform.
