Mobile Video Revolution Fuelled with Video Access

19th October , 2004

Europe : The mobile video revolution is underway! By the end of 2004, mobile operators will have more than 10 million mobile video-enabled handsets ready and waiting for the next "killer" video applications. Mobile operators have already begun releasing new video applications and are looking for more, in order to capture share in a market that many analysts expect will approach $1.3 billion by 2007.

Fueling this revolution, NMS Communications announced the availability of Video Access(TM), a complete, cost-effective and easy-to-use toolkit for developing carrier-grade, standards-based mobile video applications and solutions. Armed with Video Access, another industry first from NMS, application developers, network equipment providers, and their carrier customers will be able to participate in this new revenue opportunity by rapidly bringing to market open, standards-based, scalable and cost-effective mobile video solutions for both 2.5G and 3G network environments.

Part of the Open Access(TM) framework, Video Access, is the first in a series of exciting mobile video products, ranging from enabling technology and software toolkits to complete servers and gateways that NMS will launch in the coming months, including video gateways, video messaging, and video conferencing.

Video Access is compatible with the 3G-324M video standard, the multimedia protocol of choice for operators to deliver conversational video services to their customers and an important cornerstone of new 3G services. Video Access offers a complete mobile video development environment, field proven through interoperability testing done with the International Multimedia Telecommunications Consortium (IMTC) and through carrier service deployments by NTT DoCoMo and others.

"With Video Access, NMS brings the same high level of performance and development simplicity that have been our hallmarks for more than 20 years to an exciting new arena, mobile video applications," said Brough Turner, Senior Vice President of Technology, NMS Communications. "We're eager to lead the charge, giving application and solution developers a better alternative to the proprietary, vertically integrated and expensive solutions that have ruled video communications until today."
