3G Comes Indoors
22nd October 2002

Centurion Wireless Technologies announced the availability of the UMTS Microsphere(TM) antenna to provide wireless connectivity for Next Generation (3G) voice and multimedia applications in buildings. The low-profile UMTS Microsphere works as a seamless upgrade to existing in-building wireless systems or as a stand-alone solution to provide 3G devices with enhanced connectivity.

"3G is about true mobility and Centurion is working to ensure that users in offices, universities, hospitals and other public venues have full access to their devices both inside and out," said Steve Bowles, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Centurion. "The UMTS Microsphere is an ideal solution for wireless carriers, property managers and IT departments looking for a way to bring next generation services into buildings."

UMTS Microsphere can be installed in almost any indoor space via a simple ceiling mount. The antenna's small size and sleek design - roughly the size of a playing card - ensures that once installed, it remains virtually unnoticeable.

The UMTS Microsphere features an omnidirectional pattern that is suited for handheld and other mobile devices that can be used indoors. By operating in the 1920-2170 MHz frequency range, the antenna supports all 3G UMTS voice and data applications. The antenna offers a high performance peak gain of 3 dBi and a VSRW of 2:1.
