Sony Xperia Z1 Mini Landing October 10th: Waterproof 4G Smartphone Coming Soon !
Sony's compact waterproof Xperia Z1 Mini looks set to be unveiled on October 10th.
Back at the start of the month we brought you details and leaked images of the Xperia Z1 Mini - taken from a Sony product catalogue obtained by a Chinese website. The folks over at ITProPortal are now claiming that Sony's compact smartphone will be unveiled in Japan on October 10th.
No details on when it'll be available to buy, but we're hopeful that it'll launch in the UK and Japan simultaneously - we're pretty confident the Z1 Mini will be available to buy in time for Christmas. Sony's Xperia Z1 Mini won't be a cheap gift, because it's essentially a smaller version of the flagship Xperia Z1 - complete with waterproofing, a stunning all-glass design and high-end specs.
The Xperia Z1 is one of our favourite smartphones of 2013 and a compact version sounds equally as appealing - plus, it's about time the HTC One Mini had a true rival. When it comes to specification the Z1 Mini has a smaller 4.3 inch touch-screen running at a resolution of 1280 * 720 pixels - with the lack of a 1080p display being the only noticeable sacrifice.
That means it has the same 2.2 GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and Sony's stunning 20.7 mega-pixel camera with G-Lens. It's also IP58 certified enabling you take underwater snaps and videos, while you'll be pleased to hear that it's a 4G ready smartphone !
Sony's Xperia Z1 Mini will be available in a couple of interesting new colours : Lime and Pink, as well as more conventional Black and White shades. No details have surfaced regarding it's price, but we'd expect it be a little cheaper than it's bigger brother - perhaps around £450 SIM-free.
