Full Review and Specification for the Nokia 7310 Supernova Review

It's slim, it's cute and it's very fashionable. The Nokia 7310 Supernova comes with an old Nokia feature: the Xpress-On cover. Yes, now you can express your personality through your phone. Unclip the current cover and attach another colour. An extra one is supplied in the box (our options were dark blue and pastel pink) and you can buy more if you need them.

Of course, the covers don't enhance the phone's features, but they let you go from business-subtle to evening-eye-catching in moments.

The phone does, however,  have some other modest features, like the screen which looks like a mirror in standby mode, or the shiny, flush keys below it which are easy to use.

The features of phones designed to look fashionable are usually minimal, and certainly there's no 3G onboard, so you won't be surfing the net at speed.

The two-megapixel camera isn't poor, but hardly cutting-edge, either. There's no flash or a mirror for self-portraits so snapping yourself in the fashionable outfit you've picked to go with your phone is out of the question. You can shoot video with it, too, but the light will have to be strong to make the most of it.

An FM radio is onboard, but the lack of a standard 3.5mm earphone jack is disappointing. However, it does have stereo Bluetooth, so if you have wireless Bluetooth headphones, you can listen to music this way.

The music player is adequate and includes album art on the screen. However, the lack of much built-in storage means you'll have to use the microSD slot if you want to store many tracks. That'll take your storage up to as much as 4GB, but, of course, you'll have to buy it separately and it's not cheap.

It's slightly hard to get excited about the Nokia 7310, although it does have its strengths, like the decent 16-million- colour resolution on the screen which does make your photographs look great -a saving grace at least.

The choices of wallpaper that underpin the screen, though, are hard to read. One pleasant choice that made everything legible wouldn't have been too much to ask, would it?

At least the phone, although not size zero is reasonably slim, and it's certainly exceptionally light so it won't weigh you down. And it looks snappier than its low price would suggest: let's not forget this is a very keenly priced handset. So much so that you could buy it just as an evening-out phone if you're prepared to swap your SIM over each time you going out. And there's even the joy of the extra cover for those out-of-character moments when you're more dusty pink than ocean blue.

Maybe this is what Nokia has in mind, although the covers aren't the easiest to remove. Still, when you do, you're rewarded with a sight of the area around the battery which is decorated with tiny stars, as if to brighten your day when you pop the cover off yet again. The covers are patterned, so they do have a level of detail to tickle your fancy for the first few times you see them, at least.

Beyond that, though, there's really not much else to this handset. It's not highly priced and the features reflect that. Unless you have plans to match your phone to your couture, there are more exciting handsets around.
