ASIA : Huawei Technologies has joined the Long Term Evolution / System Architecture Evolution (LTE / SAE) Trial Initiative ( LSTI ) and will hold the infrastructure vendor seat of the 2008 LTE/SAE Trial Initiative Steering Board.

The LTE/SAE Trial Initiative brings together major telecom vendors and operators, committed to driving the development of next-generation, high-performance, mobile broadband networks and 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) LTE and SAE technologies.

Huawei's active in LSTI reflects commitment to contributing significantly to the development of HSPA, HSPA+ and LTE technologies, as a leading global telecommunication solutions supplier. At present, the total number of Huawei essential patents in 3GPP ranks No. 5. Huawei takes part in the Inter-vendor Interoperability Test (IOT) work to promote the LTE industry. In 2009, Huawei plans to provide LTE commercial products, based on multi-standard base stations. Huawei also received high acclaim from the board of LTE/SAE Trial Initiative for its performance in global High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) and LTE fields.

"On behalf of the Steering Board of LTE/SAE Trial Initiative, I'd like to welcome Huawei as an official member of the group." said the Program Officer of LTE/SAE Trial Initiative.

"Our membership of the LTE/SAE Trial Initiative will provide a platform for Huawei to share knowledge, expertise and best practice with others in the industry. It will also allow us to promote the development of next generation networks," said Yu Chengdong, president of Huawei wireless product line. "We have already implemented large-scale, full-performance HSPA networks around the world. We plan to continue this evolutionary process, and lead IP-based LTE technology to maturity."
