

2G and 3G Mobile Base Station Contracts Hit Low Point |

The base station contract analysis reports are issued on a quarterly and annual basis and provide a unique perspective on the global cellular/PCS base station contract awards and demand for mobile base station equipment covering all major OEMs including Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei Technologies, Motorola, Nokia Siemens Networks, LG Nortel Co. Ltd., and ZTE. "Alcatel-Lucent and Ericsson led the market with 23.1% of total contract awards that were publicly announced during the September 30, 2007 ended quarter. However Ericsson landed the largest revenue amount contract during the quarter from Bharti Airtel for a $2 billion GSM/EDGE upgrade," says founder and President, Earl Lum. "The GSM market continues to hold up the market with nearly half of the contract awards in this technology segment while Asia Pacific led the regions and India awarded the most contracts during the quarter. The split between 2G and 3G technologies for the quarter was slightly in favor of 2G at 54%," says Lum.
