US : SoundClear(R) Software Enables Full-Duplex Hands-Free for VoIP, 3G Video and Other Wideband Audio Applications

Acoustic Technologies, the leader in high-quality full-duplex speakerphone solutions for mobile handsets and VoIP, today announced the immediate availability of its SoundClear(R) ATS6100 software for 16kHz wideband audio applications. This enhanced software improves voice clarity, full-duplex operation and speaker volume for 16kHz voice applications. The ATS6100 SoundClear software provides crisp, clear speakerphone operation for mobile conferencing, video calling and hands-free operation. The application is ideal for newly emerging USB-based PC speakerphone devices used with services such as Skype and Yahoo, and for WiFi/WiBro-enabled phones, VoIP desktop and conference phones, and high-growth 3G mobile handsets.

Mobile and VoIP users are demanding products that solve the problem of poor speakerphone sound quality caused by echoes, delays and harsh noise environments. SoundClear software enables natural conversation and simultaneous access to voice, data, and video over cellular and IP networks. SoundClear optimizes speech intelligibility with full-duplex control that adaptively monitors, detects, and processes incoming voice, echo and noise signal power levels.

The SoundClear ATS6100 software integrates a combination of patented techniques for acoustic echo cancellation, noise cancellation, sound enhancement and full-duplex control that work together to provide dramatic improvements in sound quality. With the SoundClear Noise Cancellation technology, major environmental and line noise sources are removed providing superior performance, even with changing levels of background noise. Other SoundClear speech enhancements include a voice-band graphic equalizer for optimal speech intelligibility.

Optimized for full-duplex operation and improved sound quality, key features of the SoundClear software utilize a combination of both time and frequency domain processing to provide more than 42dB total echo rejection, no distortion or speech clipping, and dynamic adaptation to changing conditions such as noise, speech levels and delay. SoundClear software is configurable for various audio performance demands and system constraints.

The ATS6100 is available for the Texas Instruments C54x and C55x families, the StarCore(TM) SC1000 family of processor cores, the Teak and Teak-Lite, the ZSP, PowerPC and ARM9. The solution is optimized for high voice clarity with efficient use of MIPS and memory. The software is portable to other commercial or proprietary processor architectures.
