ASIA : Wireless LAN (WLAN) solution provider IPone Inc. of Seoul, announced today that they have conducted Wireless LAN roaming with commercial cellular networks for 2.5G and 3G.

Inset is the IPone’s AirGate200N Wireless LAN PCMCIA Card provides notebook and handheld computer users with high-speed wireless connection, up to 11Mbps. Utilizing 2.4GHz Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum (DSSS) radio frequency technology, AirGate2000N complies with IEEE 802.11b & 802.1x standard ensuring interoperable and reliable wireless communications.

Using the networks and WLAN devices equipped with an IPone AirGate2000N 802.11 WLAN Card and IPone's roaming client/server software, it enables ubiquitous mobile network architecture to make possible seamless inter-technology handoffs between different types of wireless networks.
IPone's roaming solutions offer the following features:

-- First, it follows Mobile IP which is International Specification established by IETF and Cellular Networks. That means it guarantees interoperability.
-- Second, it is not dependent on network and hardware, therefore it can be applied to seamless roaming between any network (i.e., cdma2000, WCDMA, GPRS, WLAN, LAN, and etc.) using any hardware (i.e., any NICs, any cellular device, and etc.) without modification.
-- Third, it is supported by various OS platforms including Windows CE and Windows OS. It enables users to roam seamlessly between any network by installing IPone's roaming software into a PDA or laptop.
