World's Smallest Film Festival Mobile Phones

7th October, 2003

Europe : Oplayo’s leading video streaming technology can today be used to view short films from The World’s Smallest Film Festival on mass market mobile phones.

The festival, being showcased in Europe for the first time at the Mobile Commerce World event in ExCeL, London (23-24 September 2003), is the only competitive showcase of digital content for mobile phones and PDAs.

Inset is Philip Bourchier O’Ferrall, UK Managing Director quoted below.

Short films from the festival, including animations, sketches and mini-documentaries, can be viewed on both cheaper Java phones and high-end smart phones, allowing more accessibility for consumers and opening up a larger market to the festival’s unique content.

Beau Buck, CEO of BigDigit, Inc. which produces The World’s Smallest Film Festival said, “This is an exciting move for the festival as it gives many more people access to films created by the thousands of budding George Lucas’ out there!”

Philip Bourchier O’Ferrall, UK Managing Director at Oplayo added: “The great news for consumers is that they can now access these videos on 2.5G Java phones instead of having to fork out for 3G. Experts predict there will be 50 million Java handsets in the market by the end of 2003, opening up a much bigger audience for the filmmakers work. We’ve teamed up with Flix (www.foneflix.com) to bring the films to consumers at the show by simply texting FLIX to 80231”

In order to sign up users need to:
Text FLIX to the short code 80231
