| Videophones Face New Challenge |
16th October 2003 |
Beamer TV does not require any additional equipment or special wiring. There are no service fees, contracts, or subscriptions and there is no additional cost to the phone call. Beamer TV is compatible with Beamer, and both parties must have a Beamer TV videophone (or a Beamer) to make a videophone call. "With the introduction of Beamer TV, even more families can experience the joys and benefits of seeing family and friends by videophone," said Didier Pietri, president and chief executive officer of Vialta. "Like its cousin Beamer, Beamer TV combines ease of set up, ease of use and affordability all in one extremely stylish design." Pietri concluded, "Beamer videophones are a better, more personal way to stay connected with loved ones." Beamer TV Is Easy to Set Up and Easy to Use It takes just a few minutes to have Beamer TV up and running. Simply plug your phone into Beamer TV and plug Beamer TV into your television's RCA video jack. Then call another Beamer TV (or Beamer) owner and hit "start" to send a live, color motion video of yourself to the other party. Each party controls when their video is on or off, ensuring privacy on both ends. Beamer TV has three viewing options: The "Self view" allows callers to view themselves; the "Other Party view" shows the person the caller is speaking to, and the "Combo view" displays both parties on the call. Beamer TV's on-screen design layout and attractive background display enhance all three viewing options. Beamer TV's Stylish Design Designed and engineered entirely at Vialta, Beamer TV features the design concepts and well-conceived marriage of form with function that epitomize Vialta's Beamer videophone line. The sleek, slim profile, adjustable tilt camera with sliding cover, and remote control that nests snugly in a recessed compartment, all contribute to give Beamer TV a unique look and quality. Availability and Pricing Beamer TV videophone will roll out the last week of September and will be available nationally at Best Buy, at regional retailers including Good Guys, J&R, and Fry's Electronics, and in the Frontgate catalog. The MSRP for a single Beamer TV videophone is $149.99. |
