Innovative Solutions for 3G UMTS Optimization

1st December, 2004

ASIA : Optimi, the leader in providing mobile carriers network planning and performance optimization solutions, announced the introduction of an advanced, innovative suite of UMTS planning and optimization products. UMTS ("Universal Mobile Telecommunications System"), synonymous with WCDMA radio access technology, is the preferred technology by more than 120 mobile licensees to support the introduction of new Mobile Multimedia customer services.

Optimi's UMTS product suite supports all levels of UMTS network evolution:

-- 1. For Carriers deploying UMTS as an overlay to their existing GSM network, OPTIMI allows mobile carriers to determine the optimal deployment of UMTS antenna sites that ensures the lowest possible capital cost while determining the highest level of customer quality of service.

-- 2. OPTIMI enables existing UMTS networks to more rapidly introduce new UMTS-based services, such a Mobile Multimedia, while ensuring that customers receive the highest level of service quality.

-- 3. By allowing product managers and network engineers to accurately simulate the impact of network changes on a per sector (cell site) basis in advance, new data services can be launched with greater service level confidence and customer satisfaction. Carriers can now optimize their networks on per sector basis to meet specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

"We achieve this new level of network planning and optimization through an innovative process of network modeling and simulation. We have developed a highly accurate capability that enables network engineers to simulate the impact of changes on the network in advance of implementing costly optimization plans," said Chief Product Officer, Mr. Juan Manuel Melero of Optimi. "Our UMTS products enable mobile networks to efficiently improve network quality on a cell-site/ sector basis. Engineers can now fine tune service performance on a network-wide basis or on a more selective geographical sector basis. This unique flexibility is a major Optimi product advantage," concluded Mr. Melero.
