UbiNetics Cooperates in World’s First Live HSDPA Demonstration

Europe : UbiNetics, the world leader in WCDMA and HSDPA terminal and test and measurement technology, has co-operated with Fujitsu Limited in their live HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) demonstration at the PT Expo Comm 2004 event in Beijing last week.

Visitors to PT Expo Comm 2004 were able to see the Ubinetics TM500 ( inset above ) working as part of a trial network involving Fujitsu network infrastructure components and test systems from other vendors, demonstrating the stability of the HSDPA standards and the interoperability of systems from different suppliers.

“We’re very pleased to assist Fujitsu in this first multi-vendor public demonstration of HSDPA”, said Bjorn Krylander, CEO of UbiNetics. “Our TM500 Test Mobile has already established itself as the standard for HSDPA infrastructure testing, and we will continue to enhance the product to keep it at the forefront of WCDMA systems development, and provide the specialised test features customers really need.”

HSDPA is an evolution of WCDMA that provides higher speed downlink data rates to enhance the performance and usability of WCDMA terminals. A combination of dynamic scheduling, fast flow control mechanisms, and a more complex modulation scheme on the radio interface permits peak data rates approaching 14 Mbps.

The TM500 is already proven as the world’s leading HSDPA network test solution, in use with all major WCDMA infrastructure manufacturers. Further evolutions of the TM500 product line are planned to support new functionality as WCDMA systems continue to evolve.
