“As carriers begin to deploy the 3G networks capable of supporting multimedia applications including streaming and videotelephony, interoperability among handset vendors is critical to commercial success,” said Lee Ellison, Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing for Dilithium Networks. “A number of mobile operators have already expressed concerns regarding interoperability between the different implementations of the protocol between manufacturers. Several leading global operators and handset vendors approached us to develop a tool to test interoperability of multimedia handsets, due to our market leadership in H.324M”. H324M/3GPP-324M is an ITU-T protocol with 3rd Generation Partnership (3GPP) extensions designed for 3G networks. This protocol addresses a wide market that ranges from conversational multimedia applications such as multimedia conferencing, to applications such as multimedia content streaming, video surveillance, etc. The multimedia content can be accessed via a variety of end user devices such as mobile phones, PDAs etc. The H324M/3GPP-324M protocol is important to carriers wishing to upgrade their networks and offering new revenue generating services while maintaining the high quality of service that mobile users expect today, and is available over circuit based channels. Dilithium Networks is the global leader in H324M/3GPP-324M technology and several of Dilithium’s engineers were part of the H.324 workgroup that developed the protocol. Dilithium Networks’ H324M/3GPP-324M toolkit has been shipping for the past two years and it has achieved market leadership with a global customer base including leading operators and equipment manufacturers.
