Integrating an infrared communications port, the new i-shot™ compatible N504iS is the first DoCoMo phone that can be used as a remote control for TV, video and other appliances. Incorporation of an infrared communications port also enables photos to be exchanged with other 504iS phone users. The N504iS features a built-in 310,000-pixel CMOS camera with 3x zoom lens and five settings for adjusting brightness. A separate macro lens, when attached, allows users to take extreme close-up shots of such written material as phone numbers, e-mail addresses or URLs. These numbers and addresses are automatically formatted and stored for easy access. The camera is also capable of taking 20 rapid-fire shots, a useful feature when shooting subjects in motion. Users can download a variety of background frames from dedicated i-mode sites and superimpose them with still images i ppli™ frames can be also be downloaded and combined with still shots to create original screensavers. Weighing approximately 105 grams, the phone is equipped with a 2.2-inch 65,536 TFT color screen. Launched in June 2002, DoCoMo's i-shot service has proved a major hit with the Japanese market and currently has more than 2.5 million subscribers, a figure that continues to grow. The N504iS will be available through all DoCoMo sales channels. The price of the phone, including the macro lens, will be open (unfixed), while its standard accessory kit, including battery back, AC adaptor and desktop holder, will cost 6,200 yen.
