Car Price Guide Goes WAP Wireless

20th November 2002

Parker's Car Guides - publishers of the UK's best-selling car price guide - have joined the growing list of companies to use Bango.net to give Vodafone, 02 and T-Mobile users the chance to check prices and get mini reviews
through WAP-enabled handsets.

The WAP service has been running since February 2000, but only Orange users
have so far been able to benefit from prices-on-the-go. The new service enables all other networks to gain access to Parker's database of 90,000 prices for just £1 for 10 minutes. To access the service go to wap.parkers.co.uk or enter the Bango Number 7275377 (P-A-R-K-E-R-S) from a bango.net bookmark on your WAP phone.

Bango.net offers clients the ability to charge users for content without the
hassle of negotiating rates with each of the networks. Typically, Bango.net
gives a 60 per cent revenue share across all networks. This compares with 50
per cent from O2 and T-Mobile and although providers get 60% from Vodafone m-pay bill, only Bango offers a charging system that works across all
operators.

Amanda Allen, Parker's Commercial Manager said: "Our products easily lend
themselves to WAP and by joining Bango, we've got the chance to extend our
reach. There's no better way for a buyer to get a price in a hurry, whether
it's on a dealer's forecourt or flicking through the small ads."

"Now is the right time for providers to re-purpose their content for
mobiles," said Ray Anderson, CEO of Bango.net. "Our inexpensive, one-stop
solution gives content providers a better revenue deal than going to the
operators directly and without the hassle of integrating with each one in
turn."

Recent news from the Mobile Data Association that UK subscribers accessed
some 340 million WAP pages in September 2002 - averaging 11 million per
day - shows an upsurge in WAP usage. There are already 25 million mobile
Internet-enabled handsets in the UK.

The recent upsurge in WAP usage has been given a further kick-start with the
launch of the Vodafone Live and O2 Revolution content services offering a
mixture of news, chat, games and information.

With the Bango Premium Service, mobile users can pay for content in various
ways: reverse SMS; PIN codes bought by IVR and credit card; and operator
billing systems such as Vodafone m-pay bill.

"Currently the only universal mechanism for billing a customer in the UK is
reverse SMS but this doesn't allow us to charge micro-payments in the
amounts we want," said Tom Godber, CEO of Mobile games developer, Masabi.
"Bango gives us the flexibility to charge what makes sense for our business
rather than the few fixed prices set by the operators." Users can use
reverse SMS to top up their phone with £1.50 and then spend it on mobile
content when they see the symbol .

As well as providing billing aggregation, Bango provides fast, easy access
to content on the Mobile Internet with its Bango Numbers. Bango Numbers
make it easy and intuitive for users to access content by simply tapping a
number into the handset rather than typing the URL. In an instant, from a
bango.net bookmark on their WAP phone, users can start paying for and
viewing news, games, information and other services.
