ComScape Launch of CDMA2000 Wireless Network

Ericsson congratulates ComScape Telecommunications on their launch of advanced CDMA voice and data services in North Carolina.

Operating under the Kiwi PCS brand name, ComScape offers local service with unlimited minutes and no 'time-of-day' or weekend restrictions, all for $35 a month. Long distance is 5(cents) per minute nationally with Canada 7(cents) and Western Europe, Japan and Australia only 10(cents) per minute. Patel further stated, "This is a fantastic value for the consumer. 'How can we afford to do it,' you ask? Two words: 'No Debt.'"

Ericsson's CDMA2000 solution, based on true 3G platforms, has been designed to provide operators like ComScape with a highly scalable solution for voice and high speed packet data services that enables fast time to market and a quick return on investment. The solution is the most compact in the industry, which will enable ComScape to reduce costs through decreased space requirements, deployment flexibility, simplified site acquisition and leasing, decreased construction costs and lower power consumption.
The network was officially launched commercially in Wilmington, North Carolina today.
