New Wireless Phone With 3D Colour Screen
14th November 2002

NTT DoCoMo today that it will introduce a new i-shot™ handset, the mova SH251iS featuring a 3D color LCD, on November 16, 2002.

The company's popular i-shot service allows users to transmit still images taken with compatible mobile phones having built-in digital cameras. Launched in June 2002, the service has proved a major hit with the Japanese market and currently enjoys over 2.5 million subscribers.

Equipped with a 2.2-inch, 65,536-color TFT display, the SH251iS is the world's first mobile handset to incorporate a 3D color LCD and 3D editor function, enabling users to convert 2D still shots and downloaded content into 3D images. The handset also has a 1.2-inch, 65,536-color STN LCD sub-display.

The model's highly advanced built-in 310,000-pixel CCD camera allows users to record and store up to 50 ten-second video clips, while approximately 1,000 still images can be stored in normal mode. In addition, the camera is capable of taking six still images per second. A macro function enables clear close-up shots of subjects.

Several innovative features let users create and send imaginative photos. These include seven flash colors, a choice of 10 different facial expressions (happy, sad, angry) for modifying portrait shots and lettering that can be superimposed on still images.

The SH251iS will be available at all DoCoMo sales channels. The price of the phone will be open (unfixed), while its standard accessory kit, including battery back, AC adaptor and desktop holder, will cost 6,300 yen.
