US / ASIA : Avanquest Software has made agreement with China's Datang Mobile to bundle Avanquest's Mobile PhoneTools software with PC data cards available to China's 3G TD-SCDMA network subscribers.

Datang, based in Beijing, is the creator and key provider of wireless infrastructure equipment and handset solutions based on TD-SCDMA technology, the Chinese contribution to the ITU's IMT-2000 specification for third generation wireless mobile services.

"We are excited to be working with one of the world's leaders in advanced wireless technology to enable them to provide optimized mobile data services," said David Wright, president of Avanquest's Denver-based OEM division. "This is another milestone for Avanquest's OEM operations, and is consistent with our focus to strengthen our presence in Asia."

Under the new agreement, Datang Mobile will include Mobile PhoneTools with its own Model DTM5702 PC Cards and make it available for bundling with related PC Cards designed to operate on high-speed TD-SCDMA systems operated by Datang partners. The PC client automatically controls carrier and location settings under Windows to ensure instantaneous data connectivity while providing PC-cellular phonebook synchronization and enabling users to communicate via SMS and MMS from the PC.

"As the founder of the TD-SCDMA industry, Datang Mobile and members of the TD-SCDMA industry alliance are committed to products and services that incorporate the most innovative technologies," said Liu Jitang, vice president of Shanghai Datang Mobile. "The addition of Avanquest's proven solution to Datang Mobile's state-of-the-art products will bring powerful data solutions to our customers and help to accelerate the successful commercialization of TD-SCDMA in China and beyond."
