Europe Austria : mobilkom austria presents the first lightning-fast, HSUPA-based data upload in Europe, live today. Ö3 radio host Tom Walek interviewed passersby at Vienna's Heldenplatz. The resulting images and sound were transmitted live and in real time via HSUPA to the conference room of the Hilton hotel. In the next step mobilkom austria will enhance its network with the fastest uplink network technology available. Inset

Turbo Boost for On the Go With upload speeds of up to 1.4 Mbit/s, HSUPA is up to 22 times faster than UMTS. The new network technology makes it possible to share pictures or videos in seconds - as well as, for the first time, simple real time mobile video streaming. "HSUPA is the ideal basis for success for mobile workers - for example in media and journalism. mobilkom austria brings the public an entirely new dimension to staying current," continues Ametsreiter. HSUPA will become available in the A1 network in the first half of 2007. The corresponding data cards will make the uplink turbo accessible. Evolution of the
A1 Network In January of this year mobilkom austria became one of the first operators in Europe to introduce an HSDPA network with downlink speeds of up to 1.8 Mbit/s. This was followed in June by phase two, with speeds of up to 3.6 Mbit/s. HSDPA is now available throughout Austria. And with today's live demonstration of HSUPA A1 has fired the starting shot for previously unreached upload speeds of up to 1.4 Mbit/s, offering the perfect uplink complement to HSDPA. |
