A1 Brings Live ORF 1 and ORF 2 to 3G UMTS Mobile

28 November , 2005

Europe Austria : A1 is Austria's first mobile provider to offer full-length ORF 1 and ORF 2 programming as live streams for the UMTS mobile. "Live TV" with ORF 1 and ORF 2 and existing channels CNN and Euronews is free of charge for all A1 customers through the end of January 2006; prices for UMTS mobiles are being reduced once again.

"A1 now presents Austrian television directly on the UMTS mobile," says Dr. Hannes Ametsreiter, Director of Marketing, Distribution and Customer Services for mobilkom austria. "As the leader in innovations, we are the first mobile provider in Austria to tackle this ambitious undertaking. With the cable retransmission right, we are able to bring ORF 1 and ORF 2 to the A1 mobile phone - live, unedited and in its entirety."

Live, Full-Length ORF 1 & ORF 2 Programming for the Mobile
Beginning on November 17th, A1 customers with streaming-capable UMTS mobiles will exclusively be able to watch Austrian television channels ORF 1 and ORF 2 live on their handsets. The new offer is available under the name "live TV" through the mobile Vodafone live! portal, where, in addition to the two Austrian stations, Euronews, CNN and the Comedy Channel are also available. The only requirement for access is a streaming-capable UMTS mobile.

Free Trial Period
All A1 customers are welcome to try out this new service free of charge through the end of January 2006. There is no fee for data transmission during the live TV stream. For customers with a Vodafone live! package, navigating the Vodafone live! portal is included in the monthly Vodafone live! package fee; otherwise data connection fees apply according to the tariff selected.

Offer on UMTS Mobiles
For the use of the expanded live TV service with ORF 1 and ORF 2, A1 has put together special offers on mobile phones. These apply for new and A1 NEXT customers who chose a Vodafone live! package, for all A1 tariffs: The Nokia 6630 and the Samsung SGH Z-500 are available for EUR 49.00 each, while the Sony Ericsson V600i is available for EUR 0.00. All three models are UMTS mobiles that allow viewing of "live TV."
