UK : Sophisticated 3G and exclusive mobile video services will form
the bedrock of a groundbreaking package of mobile services provided
to ITV by Mobile Interactive Group (MIG) for the new series of I’m
A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! beginning on November 20th on
ITV 1 and ITV 2.
MIG has developed an I’m
A Celebrity WAP micro site for the ITV Mobile portal where viewers
will be able to access all the available mobile services. In addition,
MIG will distribute the I’m A Celebrity… content to several
of the UK’s leading mobile phone operators.
Amongst the new services
will be a 24-hour live video portal, enabling fans to access round-the-clock
action from the Australian outback streamed live to any 3G handset
in the UK. Fans will also be able to share news and views using the
new mobile video blog service which will allow them to leave messages
for the show.
There will be a range of
exclusive video content filmed and edited by MIG and specifically
tailored for the small screen. As part of this content range, MIG
will be working with ‘I’m A Celebrity…’ host
Tara Palmer-Tomkinson to film and deliver her exclusive daily video
diary, whilst fans of the Bushtucker Trials will be able to view exclusive
video previews of the chilling challenges which lie ahead.
In addition, MIG will be
producing over 100 mobile video clips, bringing exclusive behind-the
scenes content, interviews and gossip to mobile phones owners in the
UK.
As always, fans will be
able to decide the fate of the contestants via SMS and receive a range
of text based news, gossip and competition services as well as participating
in the all new on-screen SMS games, offering viewers the chance to
text-to-participate in real time. The SMS votes and competition entries
will be delivered using “Votewinner”, MIG’s world-record
breaking custom-built high capacity voting platform to process the
votes and services. Votewinner is also currently being used to manage
the SMS voting for the hit UK show ‘The X Factor 2 for ITV’.
“The last six months
have seen the momentum of mobile video significantly increase across
the entire mobile value chain and broadcasters now understand not
only the value of these services to viewers, but also the commitment
which needs to be made in terms of revenue and resources to ensure
that content is well-produced”, commented Barry Houlihan, Managing
Director, Mobile Interactive Group.
Jane Marshall, Commercial
Director, ITV Consumer, added: “Viewer interactivity is key
for high-profile programme properties like I’m A Celebrity…
and the new mobile portal is central to our strategy for driving take-up
of interaction on the move. ”The new series of I’m a Celebrity
will raise the bar for mobile interaction, setting new standards for
the ways that viewers can interact with broadcast events. 24-hour
live 3G streaming and sophisticated mobile video services mean that
viewers in the UK can feel closer to the celebrities in the Australian
outback than ever before.”
