| NEC Displays WAP Wireless Phones |
19th November, 2003 |
Inset left and below is the e530 new handset. The current e525 will also be displayed and a model of the next in the series, the e535, which is under development. All models demonstrate NEC’s strong commitment to sustained development of new handsets and advanced mobile technology. GPRS and WAP technology enable users to send email and surf the Internet easily and efficiently, saving time and money on frequent dial-ups. Text, graphics, colour pictures and audio messages can be sent and received thanks to SMS, EMS and MMS capability, which are standard features for the handsets on the stand.
The compact, lightweight e232 clamshell measures just 8.5 cm when folded but packs all of the advanced technology mentioned above. The 65,536 colour, 128 x 160 pixel internal display shows great pictures and a second 12-colour LCD on the outside of the clamshell has a digital clock and is indispensable for the “Look who’s Calling” alert feature. No matter whether your handset is set to a discrete mode for meetings, you can see who is trying to reach you. A step-up from the current e525 model with cameras, nightlight and digital zoom, the e530 is also Java™ enabled to take the multimedia experience with exciting games and applications to new levels. Both models allow users to send pictures by MMS, customisable with text and voice messages. They are PC compatible and have USB connections. On display for the first time will be the e535, which incorporates all of the elegant technological features in the other products in this line-up including Java™. This multimedia phone has efficient video capture and download, a high quality 300 k pixel camera with integrated nightlight, two colour display screens, inside and out and great sound through a loudspeaker – all the better for hearing the 64 polyphonic sound channels. As mobile terminals continue to evolve, NEC will be leading the way, including sophisticated and useful features in their widening portfolio of stylish handsets. |
