| 3G Video Communication Solutions for Europe |
19th November, 2003 |
Europe : NEC Corporation (NEC) announced that it would start marketing Video Communication Solutions for emerging Mobile markets in Europe and other parts of the world. The objective is to proactively create and support new value-added mobile services over high-speed mobile infrastructures such as GPRS, EDGE, 3rd Generation (3G) systems and future high-speed infrastructures. NEC’s Video Communication Solutions for Mobile include high-quality live video delivery, video telephony, video conferencing, video content delivery, video surveillance and video storage solutions by mobile phones over high-speed infrastructure such as 2.5G or 3G. It is possible to establish a video link between PCs at home and office locations and 3G mobile terminals anywhere through the newly developed 3G Gateway. The advanced MPEG-4 Encoder realizes real-time surveillance services over GPRS networks. Live transmission of concerts, sport, events or status reports of on-going works such as construction or traffic bottlenecks can be accessed on 3G handsets. News, weather forecasts, movie and transport schedules and other information can be provided in streaming format to the 3G mobile handsets. For non-real-time requirements, video and images taken by 3G handsets, saved and stored and can be distributed on a demand basis. NEC will further promote this solution in tandem with advanced mobile applications such as mobile Internet Rating System, operator/content provider billing system and mobile Digital Rights Management systems that it has developed to provide total solution benefits to mobile operators. NEC is a total solution provider for 3G and the mobile Internet. NEC has been involved in every first-stage rollout of 3G systems worldwide. NEC is also responsible for developing the first 3G handsets for use on the world's first 3G network. NEC has proven competence in the mobile Internet area, developing advanced mobile infrastructure systems, a mobile applications platform and impressive portfolios of rich content. NEC will showcase its most recent advanced and vital network business solutions created by the convergence of computing and networking technologies under the theme of "Dynamic Collaboration - making your business grow". "Dynamic Collaboration" is a business message introducing a business style that dynamically responds to a continually evolving commercial environment by flexible collaboration with partners while refining core competence. In recent years, with the rapid expansion of broadband Internet and advanced mobile services, companies and service providers have been searching for new business models and value-added services to improve profitability. This will enable them to survive in a harsh competitive business environment and realize successful market growth. NEC's outstanding competence in the combined fields of computing and networking gives the company a strong competitive edge with which to support customers and develop innovative solutions. |
